Learn a Foreign Language

Working as a language teacher is a great way to live abroad and experience another culture – whilst ensuring a little pocket money for your future travels! Throughout Australia, there is plenty of potential for young and out-going travellers to become certified language teachers and teach in schools across this wide brown land! On the East Coast the range is vast: from Spanish courses Melbourne to German courses Sydney, or even set your sights a little inland to the capital and teach Italian courses Canberra. Not to forget Western Australia of course, because the demand for teachers for French courses Perth is high!

For those with English as their mother tongue, teaching English courses Sydney is a great option, because Australia is a favourite for international students who want to enhance their English language ability. Teaching provides a fantastic opportunity, and one that is memorable at that! (I’ll never forget the day that we were talking about life experiences and future goals, when one of my students announced proudly that he needed “the air of fresh breasts.” I struggled to find what he could have possibly meant to say, and I think the look of shock on my face made him realise his cheeky error – “erm… breath of fresh air… I always get those two confused”).

These days, students have two key approaches to studying a language. Either they are about to visit the country of choice and wish to conduct a preliminary language study, or they have just returned from the country (perhaps involving study) and wish to maintain or further their level in the language. The motivation may be for general interest, but more often than not involves some sort of business or travel, academic or technical reasons for study.
